Microsoft Azure Fundamentals | AZ-900

Hello Reader, myself Vinil Mehta, from Pune,India.I am Business Analyst by profession and a learner by hobby. At this time, world is struggling with COVID-19 . It has some positive impact to education system. Now-a-days, many technical webinars are being conducted to keep people skilled .

Major Tech giants are conducting certification free of cost to lure people to take advantage of time and learn new technology. I am one of them.In March-April,2020 , from some online sources I got to know major Cloud service provides are providing free training and to test the knowledge, they are also providing certification exams, free of cost. To take advantage of this opportunity, i’d enrolled myself in a few many of Cloud certification exams. One such exam is AZ-900: Azure fundamental. This is for anyone who wants to learn cloud technology, with Microsoft as service provider.

I can share the strategy I've used to learn and pass the exam to earn certificate.

These days, Microsoft is conducting Azure Fundamental Training free of cost. It is required to attend the ~6 hours live online training, which gives us an idea what Azure is, its components, services, SLA etc. At the end, you would know Cloud Networking, Cloud Storage, Compute, AI & ML in Cloud and many more things.

There is one more advantage of attending the complete training. You will get a voucher (Gift Voucher over registered email ID) a week after you attend above mentioned training.This voucher will be used to purchase any 1 of the Microsoft Certification exam, free of cost. You are required to select any 1 of the required certification and use this voucher to purchase and schedule the exam.

To book an exam, visit respective certification page and there is an option to buy it. Once purchased from there, you will be moved to Pearson vue website for scheduling your exam. You can give exam at the center, your home or office(Proctored ). Note: for exam conducting at home or office has some terms and condition like proper internet connection, no gadgets or books nearby etc . These can be seen at pearson vue website .

Next, begin learning more about Azure.

We are required to go through a very thorough online study material, which is available at Microsoft website. There are 12 modules loaded with content worth ~10 hours of learning. These are vast but gives you insight of all major components of Azure with hands on.

To practice more, you are required to have a subscription , which is free for 30 days. In this, you can do most of the activities like creation of VM, VNET, Storage etc. Even for a free trial, you need a valid Credit card for verification of mode of payment.

Well, this will give you knowledge sufficient to pass AZ-900 exam.

Secondly, it is recommended to have some practice before actual exam. the above tutorial gives a simulator to practice what is being taught for hands on but it doesn’t contains questions related to the context which we also need to prepare for.

There are multiple exam sources available these days. Just google it and you will find easily. I’d enrolled & did practiced on a few of them on Udemy as follows:

Useful Tips:

Have at least 2–3 weeks of break between current date and exam date . This would give you sufficient time to learn & practice entire course.

There are numerous PDFs available over internet, containing lots of questions related to AZ-900. If you use them, use your knowledge to validate the answer.
